Martin Luther King, Jr. studies

During January we studied the life of Dr. King.  We learned a great deal about the Civil Rights movement.  This learning will carry over into our Black History month studies in February.  We read biographies of Dr. King's life, wrote a biography in our own words using our research, and composed an essay about our own dreams.  We practiced mixing tones of brown and worked to recreate the variety of skin tones we see in our world to use for an art project.  We kept a vocabulary word wall and turned it into an "ABC" book for the class.  We also created a timeline of Dr. King's life, which helps us with our math skills and sequencing.  Wow!
